Neglect....

Libbi emailed me today looking for an old video of Lucky Lilac's day. I didn't remember at all (old age starts young around here). So I looked through my blog history, and there in 2009 was the video. I watched it, it made me so happy. I giggled at little tottering Meg, and Grace not quite so grown up, and Ellie bossing around Josh - He was squirting people! As I flipped through my blog I saw so many memories, not that old but still important. I know that some of you faithful bloggers make books every year and are responsible. I am not. But the record is here and if I will apply a little bit of effort I can look back and remember these times, and hopefully smile, and maybe, if I'm lucky, giggle.

So here's a recap:
- Summer is not so bad - especially when it flies by at record speed.
- The last two weeks I've been doing 'Cake Class' for all the little girlies who are obsessed with baking. It's been.... messy - sticky - loud - dish-full (it's a word, you get it, right?) - exhausting - messy (did I say that already? it's worth mentioning twice) - slow - and fast - and yes, fun. My beautifully organized curriculum kind of got shot out the window when we got behind on day one and spent the entire first week trying to catch up. The girls were very excited but things just took longer than expected. We really needed a giant walk in blast chiller to speed up all the baking - cooling - filling - cooling - frosting - cooling - decorating - and more cooling. But we made do... and we somehow made a lot of cake and frosting.

Lizzie brought her camera and actually got some pictures taken so I hi-jacked these from her blog...

Note the mess: times this by 1000 and you'll know how things went on our last day of week one. And amid this mess Aunt Penny showed up to pick up Elisabeth. I thought surely she would go into shock from the chaos, I know I was headed that way. I will say after one solid hour of doing dishes, and another of cleaning I got the kitchen back to working order. And I do it EVERY day....

Roxy's finished cake...

Lizzie's finished cake....

This week has been fuller and slower. We've worked on doing things better instead of just rushed, but the girls have learned that not all baking is easy and it takes a lot of patience! Tomorrow is our final day, and though I'll miss the fun, I'll be glad to do the clean up one more time and haul all my crap back home.

In other news:
I leave for Logan in less than two weeks! Yikes!
AND.... we accepted an offer on our house!!!!
We are awaiting inspections and appraisals and then I'm packing up and taking off. We really like the couple that are buying it so we are SO hopeful that everything goes through (pray to the appraisal gods for us!!)
I am so excited about my new school and finally unpacking my classroom and putting it away. I will be headed up next week to do that  - I will try my hardest to take pictures. And then I will come back and blog about it because packing, moving, sorting, and organizing are always the memories that evoke smiles and giggling.

I know you're the type of girl who's won't to say no, but can I help you pack? I know your organization level far exceeds mine, but I'm a really good direction follower and can do whatever you want me to do.

Please? Pretty please?

Also, (because it just occurred to me) how are you going to make an Indiana Jones birthday cake for Talmage's birthday if you're in Logan?

The unfortunate repercussions of you moving are starting to hit home.
